Congrats to 2019 FLL Winners!

Twenty-seven teams of students ages 9 to 14 competed at the FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) robotics tournament over the last two Saturdays: December 7 at the Hood River Middle School and December 14 at The Dalles Middle School. Teams from as far as Heppner and Irrigon joined local teams from Hood River, The Dalles, Goldendale, Mosier, Odell, Klickitat, Trout Lake and Stevenson. Watch Gorge FIRST LEGO League Robotics Tournaments, December 7 and 14

The Gorge Tech Alliance, host of the annual Columbia Gorge FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) Tournaments, invites the community to come watch the fun and support our local students the next two weekends. The events are Dec. 7 at Hood River Middle School and Dec. 14 at The Dalles Middle School. The best viewing time is roughly 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day (except during a lunch break). Teams of students ages 9 to 14 from schools all around the Gorge (Klickitat, Hood River, Skamania and Wasco Counties) will be competing at these local qualifiers for the international FLL robotics competition. Winners travel to the state tournaments in Hillsboro in January. Learn more about FIRST LEGO League here.

Volunteer for FTC Events

We have information for those of you interested and willing to help out with the local FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics tournaments for students in grades 6-12!

Saturday, January 18th:  Mid-Columbia FTC League Tournament Qualifier

  • Location: Hood River Valley High School
  • Timeframe: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Number of Teams Participating: 17
  • Volunteers Needed: 
    • 12 judges (no prior experience needed, training will be provided; cannot be the parent of a team participant)
    • 6 general volunteers

Saturday, February 8th:  FTC Super Qualifier Tournament

  • Location: Hood River Valley High School
  • Timeframe: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Number of Teams Participating: 25 (estimated 300-400 people will be attending event)
  • Volunteers Needed: 
    • 15 judges (no prior experience needed, training will be provided; cannot be the parent of a team participant)
    • 10 general volunteers

Volunteers Needed for FLL Tournaments!

The Gorge Tech Alliance needs volunteers for the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Qualifying Tournaments for students in grades 4-8. No robotics experience is necessary to help with these fun, rewarding tournaments! Opportunities: 
  • Saturday, December 7, 8am to 3pm at Hood River Middle School
  • Saturday, December 14, 8am to 3pm at The Dalles Middle School
